A friend of mine, X, has been through something similar to me recently. Like me, she recently was hospitalised. This means I have one friend at least who understands what things are like: getting into routines, trying to stay healthy, trying to stay out of hospital. Trying to be. So we do healthy things together- today we ran together, made pizzas from scratch, socialised in a normal and non-alcoholic way. With tea. Honestly? I do not cope well without alcohol. By evening I was a bit anxious. But it’s good to be around someone who understands how crucial the rhythms of days are, the rhythms many (but by no means all) people fall into naturally, even take for granted. It’s nice to be around someone with similar fears and similar hopes, the foremost of which is that a balance can be maintained.
